K: Anita, how did Pillow Mint come into being?

A : I was working for a university hospital and became bored, knowing I have a creative side that I wanted to explore. Looking for children's' linens, I could not find any at that time in Charlottesville that were not theme related, like sports, etc.

K: I see you have a great selection of designer accessories ranging from bedding to throws. How do you decide what designers and products to feature?

A: I started doing research on the Internet to find high quality unique, chic styles that are out of the ordinary, Designers sent me samples for my consulting business. I love fabrics. I would love to do a teenagers room makeover next!

K:What trends are you seeing in Design & Color lately?

A: Unique styles, mixing and matching of coordinating fabric patterns. Still a lot of traditional, hotel bedding styles w contrast borders.

K: What advice would you give to others who are considering going into business for themselves?

A: Have a plan, expect more start up costs than you anticipate. Be conservative, and selective in your choices. Location, location location for a storefront which I will be opening again soon!

K: Parting words:

A: Understanding that a personal touch can make a dramatic difference in the interior of your home and bedroom, I will personally work with you, in your home, to create the bedroom of your dreams.
